Summer Snack Idea's for the Family

One of my favorite pass times during the Summertime is spending time with my girls at the pool, beach or just outside in the backyard. I always like to have quick and easy snacks for them that can be fun for us to make together, and help avoid huge messes that can also be filling a sweet after a day of sweating.
1. Melon with Tajin
This is my first favorite snack for the summer without a doubt. If you haven’t heard of Tajin, it’s a salt seasoning with a little bit of chile pepper and lime flavors. If you’re the type to put salt on your watermelon you will LOVE this! If not, don’t knock it ‘til you try it. You can use watermelon, cantaloupe and or mangos. You can even try doing a slush of just watermelon or mango with Tajin and it’s just as delicious!! The perfect balance of salty with a kick of spice and lime, along with the sweet refreshing taste of fruit.
2. “Cherry Limeade”
So this makeshift cherry limeade is so light and refreshing, and I love it because I’m not a huge fan of the overly-sweet ones from fast-food places. All you need is Topo Chico Twist of Lime flavor, and a jar of cherries! I like using a jar of maraschino cherries with my girls, since they love having it sweeter and as a snack for after. All you need to do is pour the desired amount of Topo Chico in a blender, add a couple of cherries along with some juice from the jar, and blend it together! It turns out like a light and sweet cherry limeade soda. The amount of cherries determines how sweet it will be, so the more the better if you have a sweet tooth!
1. Caprese Pasta Salad.
This pasta salad is so awesome for the summer heat because it’s so light yet so filling, so you can feel full without feeling the need for that long afternoon nap in the A/C.
All you need is 5 ingredients: whole grain pasta, cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, and balsamic vinaigrette. Honestly, the measurements of each are totally up to your appetite and preference of how much you like of each! But after cooking the pasta, add the tomatoes cut into halves, chunks of mozzarella (or balls if they’re in ball form), pieces of chopped basil, and drizzle with balsamic vinaigrette. Mix all this together in a bowl, and bam! Delicious Summer pasta salad!
This Summer has been so beautiful for my family and me. And I am so excited and blessed to be able to share a part of it with y'all.
