Thankfulness means gratitude. It means counting your blessings, noticing both the grand gifts and simple pleasures in life. It means learning to live your life continually aware of how much you have been given.
Thankfulness shifts your focus from what your life lacks to the abundance that is already present!
Every morning, when I wake up, I try to take a moment to just be thankful - thankful that I'm alive. Thankful that my day is full of people I adore. Thankful that I get to work hard for my dream. Don't get me wrong - I definitely still get stressed!! But in those moments, I try to stop. I try to think about something I am thankful for in that situation, and it shifts my focus every time.
For example, during one of our design meetings, two of the people on our team had a disagreement about a design. We had all had a very long day, so the conversation got pretty heated! In that moment, my instinct was to be frustrated!! But then, I looked around the room - these amazing, incredibly talented people were all there to build this company. They were helping me pursue my dream and we were all accomplishing it together. So, instead of jumping into the conversation, I stopped it. I told each one of them how thankful I was for them, and the entire mentality shifted. We stopped arguing and heard one another out, because we are a TEAM!
So, in every moment, the good and the bad, just stop - even for a split second - to realize everything there is to be grateful for. Because, giving thanks makes people happier and more resilient. It strengthens relationships and reduces stress, and it makes us realize the abundance of joy there is to be had in this life - as long as we just look!
